Chryslers Lower 40 JK Wrangler
04/04/09
Burnsville Offroad was to install a 5.7 hemi with a 6 speed manual transmission
into their latest custom 2 door JK. Chryslers Mopar Underground division took a
2 door JK and with a lot of rework on the sheet metal and with a custom hood and
flares installed 40 inch Mickey Thompson Claws on this JK with no suspension lift.
At the same time the windshield frame was raked and chopped along with a custom
rollcage to further lower the stance. It’s a cool looking jeep that will also be
very capable on the trail once we are done with it. We will be installing a reworked
5.7 hemi that has hi flow heads and a larger camshaft. The install will also include
Dynatrac prepped J8 axles with ARB airlockers and 5.38 gears. The 1350 driveshafts
were built by Tom Woods. We installed the larger J8 brakes to help stop those 40
inch tires. The arb switches were installed in a Daystar switch panel. The install
was very straightforward for us and we had no issues. The jeep was ready for its
transport last Wednesday night and we look forward to seeing it wheel next week
in Moab. I will post trail pics next week as I get them.
