DUALSPORT’S 392 VVT CONVERSION IS DONE AND CHECK OUT THE NEW INSTALL METHOD

THIS IS A 392 CONVERSION DONE WITH THE NEW FOR 2012 WA580 TRANSMISSION IN THE JK. I WENT FOR THE EURO SPEC CONVERTED ENGINE BAY FOR A FEW REASONS. RIGHT AFTER MOAB THIS JK WILL BE USED TO DO ALL THE DYNO TESTING THAT IS REQUIRED FOR US TO HAVE A CARB LEGAL CONVERSION FOR THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA AND FOR ALL THE EUROPEAN COUNTRIES. THE FACTORY AIRBOX IS A MUST FOR THIS.

WE ALSO INSTALLED THIS 392 WITHOUT CUTTING OUT THE FACTORY MOTOR MOUNTS. THE FACTORY MOUNTS REMAIN. AFTER A FEW YEARS IF YOU WANTED TO CONVERT BACK AND SAVE YOUR ENGINE FOR THE NEXT JEEP YOU COULD. AND WHAT A TIME SAVER! THE NEW MOTOR MOUNTS ARE TRULY NO MEASURE, NO CUTTING, NO WELDING. NO WELDING WAS NEEDED TO FINISH THIS CONVERSION. THE FACTORY TRANSMISSION MOUNT BOLTS RIGHT BACK INTO PLACE. THIS IS THE CLEANEST CONVERSION EVER.

HUSKY HAULER IS NEARING COMPLETION. THE BEDLINER HAS BEEN SPRAYED IN AND THAT SHOULD PROTECT THE BED FROM MY AND THE WIFE’S MATCHING HUSKYS WHEN THEY’RE BOUNCING AROUND ON OUR WAY TO THE TRAILHEAD.

I INSTALLED THE DUAL ARB COMPRESSOR WITH DUAL AIRLINES SO THAT YOU CAN FILL EITHER SIDE UP BY JUST OPENING THE BACK DOOR AND GRABBING A HOSE. WE MADE A NEW SUBWOOFER BOX AND REAR SPEAKER PODS AND HAVE THOSE ALL MOUNTED AND WIRED.

EVERY YEAR SINCE 1994 I HAVE TRIED TO WHEEL OVER THE SNOW COVERED LA SAL MOUNTAIN PASS AND HAVE NEVER MADE IT. LAST YEAR WAS THE HIGHEST ELEVATION EVER WHEN ME AND MY BUDDY JOHN MADE IT TO 6200 FEET. THE SNOW ABRUPTLY GOT TO BE 6 TO 8 FEET DEEP. JOHN MADE IT ONE FOOT FURTHER THAN I DID WITH HIS 392 LJ AND 42 INCH MTR’S.

THIS YEAR I DECIDED TO PUT SOME 38 INCH SWAMPER STS TIRES ON AND WILL AIR THEM DOWN TO 5 TO 6 PSI AND GIVE IT ANOTHER SHOT. WE ALSO INSTALLED A CURRIE REAR 60 AND CHANGED THE GEAR RATION TO 4.88.

ALL OF THE HIGHER HORSEPOWER HEMI ENGINES THAT WE INSTALL IN WRANGLERS HAD THEIR BEGINNING IN A CHRYSLER CAR. SO IT SHOULD COME AS NO SURPRISE THAT BOR HAS A LINEUP OF CHARGERS AND CHALLENGERS THAT WE DO A LOT OF TESTING WITH IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE THE HEMI INSTALLS WE DO IN A WRANGLER ARE PERFECT. BESIDES, FAST CARS ARE FUN.

THIS CHARGER IS A 2006 WITH A 6.1 AUTOMATIC. I AM DYING TO HAVE A NEW 6.4 VVT IN THIS CAR. AND NOT JUST FOR THE EXTRA HORSEPOWER. THE VVT ENGINE HAS A TORQUE CURVE THAT WILL MAKE THIS CAR LAUNCH HARD AND PULL HARD ALL THE WAY TO REDLINE. CHANGING THE MOTOR OUT IS THE EASY PART. BLENDING THE 2011 ELECTRONICS INTO THE OLDER LX PLATFORM WILL BE THE TOUGH PART. BUT ITS JUST A MATTER OF PROGRAMMING. COMPARED TO A HEMI WRANGLER, MAKING A CAR GO FAST IS EASY.

WE CAN WORK ON ALL DODGE CARS AT BOR: STROKERS, SUPERCHARGERS, DRIVELINE, YOU NAME IT. I BELIEVE THIS MOTOR PACKAGE IS SOMETHING THAT A FEW OLDER LX OWNERS MIGHT WANT TO DO. MAYBE I WILL CALL THAT BUSINESS BURNSVILLE ON ROAD… STAY TUNED – 500 HORSE IS ON THE WAY. THE NEW MOTOR IS STILL IN THE CRATE.

WHAT IS VADER?
VADER IS AN EXTENDED WHEELBASE LJ THAT WE FIRST PUT TOGETHER IN 2009. IT HAS A 500 HORSE 392, MANUAL TRANS, DANA 60′S, 42 INCH MTR TIRES, KING COILOVERS IN THE FRONT AND LEAF SPRINGS IN THE REAR. THE JEEP ALSO HAS THE FULL NEMESIS LJ KIT WITH CUSTOM ROCKERS AND CORNERS AND FLARES ALL MADE UP SPECIAL BY PAUL AT NEMESIS.

AFTER DESTROYING 2 SETS OF LEAF SPRINGS OVER THE PAST COUPLE YEARS, WE HAVE DECIDED TO 4 LINK THE BACK WITH COIL OVERS. WE HAVE THE REAR KINGS READY AND I FOUND SOME TERAFLEX REAR LONGARMS ON THE SHELF FOR THE 4 LINK. AFTER CUTTING OFF THE OLD SPRINGS THE FUN IS BEGINNING.

FOX SHOCKS ARE INSTALLED ON DUALSPORT. WHAT A NICE RIDE. FOX REALLY HAS THE VALVING FIGURED OUT FOR A JK.

THE 392 HEMI CONVERSION IS ALMOST COMPLETE IN THIS 2012 JK. THE MOTOR WAS MATED TO A GETRAG 238 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. WHAT A BEAST. THE PALLET OF NEW PARTS FROM ARB IS ARRIVING TOMORROW. THE ENGINE BAY CONFIGURATION WAS DONE IN OUR NEW EURO SPEC FORMAT.

THIS JEEP IS BEING BUILT IN A COMPLETE MILITARY THEME. WE ARE DOING A FULL DESERT DIGI CAMO WRAP. BUMPERS AND ROCKERS WILL BE POWDER COATED DARK TAN TO MATCH. HUTCHINSON BEADLOCKS HAVE BEEN POWDER COATED BLACK WITH 37 INCH KM2′s MOUNTED. A TMD HEAT REDUCTION HOOD IS GOING ON TOO. THIS ONE WILL ALL COME TOGETHER IN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS.

WE INSTALLED THE JSPEC LIFT TODAY. JUST AS I THOUGHT THE INSTALL WAS EASY AND NO PROBLEMS WERE ENCOUNTERED. THE SUPPLIED SWAY BAR END LINKS CAN BE USED FRONT OR REAR AND ARE DESIGNED TO BE CUT TO FIT. WE PUT THEM ON THE REAR AS WE WILL BE INSTALLING JKS DISCONNECTS IN THE FRONT.

WE ADDED A 3/4 INCH SPACER TO THE FRONT RIGHT AWAY IN ANTICIPATION OF THE EXTRA WEIGHT OF THE HEMI. THE JSPEC REAR TRACKBAR BRACKET IS ENTIRELY BOLT ON AND INSTALLED WITH NO MODIFICATIONS NEEDED. AS SOON AS THE FOX SHOCKS SHOW WE WILL BE READY FOR A TEST DRIVE. THE JKS SECTOR SHAFT BRACE WILL BE GOING ON DUALSPORT AS WELL.

WE JUST FINISHED PROTOTYPING A HEMI AIRBOX THAT WORKS WITH THE ARB SNORKEL. CHECK OUT THIS CRAFTMANSHIP. THIS AIRBOX WILL NOT INHIBIT POWER OUT PUT EITHER.
